Fact: this is the best dessert in the world.
Found at La Huella in Jose Ignacio, Uruguay. Just a 40 min drive east from Punta del Este.
Esteemed Uruguayan restauranteur Martin Pittaluga can be found at the entrance most summer days, greeting locals that flock to the beach hangout every Summer (which starts in December).
Though it has become a "see-and-be-seen kind of place", that's not always how I remember it. The whole area has changed in the last decade as international tourist flock to what has become a scene-y vacation destination.
Sadly, this is the last year La Huella has its license for its beach-front property. It will be moving to a new location and, though I'm sure it will still be as spectacular (the Volcán will still be on the menu), it still feels like the end of an era.
For those who want to taste a bit of Pittaluga's genius, via Volcán de Dulce de Luche, but can trek all the way to La Huella, check out Mostrador NYC or Sucre London.
